National lice Prevention Month!

It’s Back-to-School. Hello bagged lunches, homework and the dreaded lice. With school back in full swing across the country, you know that some children are bound to be sent home because they have lice. Since September is National Head Lice Prevention Month, we thought that we would share some interesting lice facts, tips on prevention, and coupons that can save you money on different OTC and prescription lice products.

Did you know that:

  • More girls than boys get lice
  • Lice is more common in children 3-12 years old
  • They feed off of human blood
  • Getting Lice has nothing to do with hygiene
  • Head lice thrive on clean, healthy heads
  • Lice can not fly- they crawl
  • Dogs and cats cannot transmit lice

So how can you prevent head lice? Well, its actually very difficult to. Lice do like clean heads, so short of putting a whole tube of hair gel on your child’s head everyday, the best thing to do is talk to your children. Tell them not to share any personal products with their friends such as hats, scarves, helmets, hairbrushes, combs etc. And if your child does come home with lice, get rid of it immediately before it spreads to another family member.

Although lice is not dangerous, it can spread easily from person to person. If your child has been diagnosed with lice, you must treat it quickly. Before heading out to the pharmacy, be sure to grab these coupons that will save you money on both prescription and OTC medications.
